Drawing is the foundation of representational art. It is the tool that helps to bridge the communication gap between the artist and the viewer. Simply put, drawing is the expression of form. In order to effectively express the form of any object in painting, the artist uses what I would refer to as Mass Drawing (Representing objects by using shapes rather than lines). The transition from a drawing class to learning how to paint can often be challenging for artists because they are trying to employ a familiar form of Line Drawing which they have become accustomed to using to a medium which requires a different approach (Mass Drawing). Because of this, I have produced a DVD which focuses specifically on drawing as it applies to the painter.
