COMMISSION PROCESS
As part of the commission process, Brian prefers to talk with the client in order to discuss the following before scheduling the portrait sitting:
Subject - Single or Multiple Figures
Location - Indoors or Outdoors
Dress and Attitude - Formal or Informal
Pose - Head & Shoulders, 3/4, Full Figure
Size of Painting - Canvas Size
Sittings take place at the client's home or choice of location. This is a photographic session which lasts between one and two hours, depending on the number of figures and the complexity of the composition.
Each portrait is painted on fine Belgian linen using the highest quality materials available to ensure permanence for generations to come.
Preliminary studies are painted for the client's review before proceeding to the final portrait. These 10″ x 8″ studies give the client a good idea of the intended pose, color, and composition of the final painting.

Portrait Fees
Portrait painting commission prices are based on a single subject. Canvas sizes may vary somewhat to adjust to compositions. Commission prices are based upon the size of the painting and the number of subjects. Pets and animals are an additional 25% of the price of the portrait.
The prices for two and three-figure portraits will be established before the sitting. A discount of 10% per additional figure may be applied towards a single painting that contains two or more figures.
A child (13 and under) may be painted on a 16″ x 20″ canvas. This is a head and shoulders portrait, which may include hands.
Upon request, Brian Neher will work with the client to select a custom frame that is appropriate to the painting and the placement of the portrait. Framing, shipping costs, and travel expenses are in addition to the price of the portrait.
Deposit
A payment of 50% of the commission price is required at the time of the sitting. This payment is non-refundable in order to compensate for the artist's time and progression of the portrait. The remaining balance is paid upon completion of the portrait.
